Roof Lantern Watford
A rectangular roof lantern over a Watford living extension — flooding the space with daylight and creating a focal point above the island.
This Watford terrace had been extended to the rear, but the new kitchen still felt darker than the clients had hoped — surrounded on three sides by neighbouring boundaries with limited window area.
We designed a rectangular roof lantern centred above the dining area, sized to balance daylight ingress with thermal performance. Self-cleaning solar-control glass reduces glare and overheating on south-facing summer afternoons.
The lantern's slim aluminium casework matches the extension's bi-fold doors, creating a coherent glazing scheme. Internally, the plastered upstand and concealed LED strip detail frame the sky view beautifully.
